Marathon effort: in Brighton, London, Milton Keynes…

For most of us humans, running a marathon, all 26.2 miles of it, is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. We burst through the pain barrier, sustained by mental strength, glucose drinks and you-can-do-its, and slow jog into our own personal history book. Well, what started as ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ at Intergas, is a little old hat now as Managing Director, Stephen Zouch, has clocked up three (2017, 2018 and 2019). Technical Operations Manager, David Stanley, ran his first ever marathon in London last year, then decided to go again and ran the Brighton marathon this April, followed by Milton Keynes in May because they were there. Marketing Executive, Terri Taylor, ran her first marathon this year (although she has form, completing the Fisherman’s Friend Strongmanrun, a rugged obstacle race over 13 miles in 2018) and will be joining an elite team of runners later this year when she enters her first ultra-marathon. What’s an ultra-marathon? Well, it’s sheer madness to most of us, but to others it’s an opportunity to run 30, 40 or even 100 miles… for fun! Who knew?

While there is nationwide concern about obesity levels and lack of regular exercise, there’s a little area in the Midlands, the Intergas head office to be precise, where the energy generated by its team of runners could give the Duracell bunny cause for grave concern.
