H&V News Awards 2017
We are delighted to announce that we have been named FINALISTS in the H&V News Awards 2017 in two categories: Collaboration of the Year and Retrofit Project of the Year.
Collaboration of the Year: In 2016 at the H&V News Awards our Intergas HRE combi compact boiler was voted Domestic Heating Product of the Year and this amazing boiler has come up trumps again. Collaborating with Gloucester City Homes (GCH), the HRE has played an integral part in this progressive housing association’s boiler replacement programme. Its mission is to “deliver services which represent value for money, ensuring every penny counts” and we have been helping GCH lower their tenants’ costs as well as their own, while providing the peace-of-mind that only ultra-reliability can bring.
We have entered this category three times and this is our third consecutive year of being nominated as a FINALIST. What a great way to start the New Year.
Retrofit Project of the Year: We just had to enter this category because of the stunning results we have achieved working with Mansfield District Council. With 13% of its residents in fuel poverty, the council had to find an energy-efficient solution, while keeping its maintenance costs as low as possible. The retrofitting of the Intergas HRE combi compact boiler has helped them achieve stunning results: some residents are now paying at least 65% less than they used to and breakdowns are down by 98%.
Why the HRE? We’re very proud of our HRE and delighted that its ingenious design is getting even more recognition for its ability to do the job and do it well. By combining brains and brawn the two-in-one heat exchanger eliminates the need for a secondary heat exchanger, diverter valve, valve motor and automatic air vent – basically all the components that stick, leak or let your down. There are only 12 components, which includes four moving parts, so there’s less to go wrong and, since its invention over 20 years ago, the robust aluminium heat exchanger has never had a mechanical failure. Unlike other brands on the UK market which condense for 10-15 seconds when the boiler fires-up, the Intergas boilers condense 100% of the time in both central heating and hot water modes, with virtually no standby losses (< 2 Watts), delivering exceptional energy efficiency. Unlike standard combi boilers, direct hot water is served by a separate loop within the unit so, if a fault occurs, you can still get hot water. By changing the parameter settings these combis can be converted to heat only, sealed system or open vent and can work with solar heating systems; they are also OpenTherm-ready making them flexible and future-proof too.
The ultimate winners will be announced on 20th April; we’ll keep you posted!
